Rule of separation
The chapters here are prose. Numbers, figures and tables are not authored in a
chapter; they are produced by an experiment, registered as an artifact, and
referenced by identifier. If a number appears in a chapter and cannot be traced
to a FIG-, TABLE- or EXP- record, that is a defect, not a shortcut.
