Research questions

Active

Each question has a permanent identifier that never changes, even when the wording of the question does. Wording changes are visible in the Git history of the question’s own page.

Writing a good question

A question that can be answered “yes” without any work is a statement. A question that cannot be answered by any conceivable experiment is a topic. The useful form names a relationship, a condition and an outcome, and admits an answer that would disappoint the author.

Adding one

Copy templates/research-question-template.md, take the next free number from registry/research-questions.yaml, and add the entry to that registry in the same commit. A question that exists as a page but not in the registry will not appear in the research map.
