Papers
ActiveDirectory names are author-YYYY-short-slug, lower case, first-author surname
only, matching the BibTeX citation key so a citation in a chapter can be found
here without a lookup table.
| Note | Pass | Cited | Relevance |
|---|---|---|---|
| author-2025-paper-name | 1 | No | Unassessed |
| author-2026-paper-name | 1 | No | Unassessed |
Adding a note
Copy templates/literature-note-template.md into a new directory named after
the citation key. Write the citation.bib first: a note whose key is invented
later will not match the chapter that cites it.
Relevance grades
| Grade | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Foundational | The thesis assumes this result |
| Competing | Attempts the same problem; must be addressed explicitly |
| Method | Supplies a technique used here |
| Context | Cited for background only |
| Discarded | Read and judged irrelevant, with the reason recorded |
Discarded is a grade, not a deletion. Recording why a paper was set aside
prevents reading it again in a year and reaching the same conclusion slowly.
